Identified Gaps

  • Gendered assumptions make it difficult to see men as victims

  • Legal Frameworks and social services that do not recognize men as victims prevent the majority of men from reporting to the authority.

  • Lack of trained practitioners and services for male victims of abuse

  • Lack of guidance and evidence-based approach and understanding to deal with the issues concerning men.

About The Project.

The concept of masculinity is often addressed in the lens of empowering women and without a male-centered approach. Addressing challenges experienced by men such as mental health, living with disabilities, various forms of violence, trauma, and expectations regarding work ethic and enthusiasm that lead to stress,  depression and suicide among others.

Project Oasis thrives to focus on the man and his challenges that will otherwise not be recognized as an issue to be dealt with.

A success in addressing challenges peculiar to men and boys can in the long run positively affect gender transformative approaches to the gender equality and women empowerment agenda.
